Of all the changes happening at Flagler College, one of the most unique will be the addition of an innovation center that promises to be much more than just a place for expensive technology and 3D printers.

Kip Taisey is the Tom Kenan Associate Professor of Music at Flagler College, where he directs the Music and Musical Theatre Programs in the Department of Performing Arts. He joined Flagler in the fall of 2015 after a decade-long professional acting career, including five years in New York City.

It stands for Flagler Sophomore High Impact Practice, an academic initiative for second-year students that is aimed at improving the student learning experience. But at its core, it's about something even more powerful: preparing students for a diverse world, and even making a difference within it.

Flagler College is pleased to announce the appointment of Derek Yonai as the new Director of the Brown Innovation Center (BIC). Yonai succeeds Freytag Associate Professor of Economics Allison Roberts, the founding director, who has stepped down for a research sabbatical this fall.

“Farm to Table,” a local Sophomore High Impact Practice (FlagSHIP), recently gave Flagler College students an unmatched opportunity to explore the farm-to-table movement through interactions with regional farmers, gardeners, non-profit organizers, and chefs.

Flagler College Theatre Arts department is excited to present its first spring production “Cry it Out” from Feb. 22 through 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. The play will be held in Lewis Auditorium, free for students, faculty, and staff.

Maya Angelou once famously stated that “people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” This is exactly what comes to mind when Ronnie Nichols ’97 and Rachel Wootten ’98 think of Delores Rutledge Love, a former Dining-Hall employee at Flagler College.

Assistant Professor of Communication, Paige Chapman, studied journalism at the University of Florida and fell in love with teaching when one of her professors asked her to adjunct a course after she finished her BS in journalism. She knew she had to do a lot more school to be able to make teaching at the college level her career. She studied news and technology during her master’s at UF and studied health communication and technology for her dissertation at the University of Iowa.
