Tyler's History Making Moments
What are your central passion(s), and how do you plan to pursue them after graduation?
My passions are in the fields of industrial and organizational (I.O.) psychology and theatre. I’m looking to take a gap year to get experience in either leadership development or human resources, and with that, I am planning to stay involved in the local theatre of St. Augustine, with a goal to enter a master’s program in a years time.
Who or what inspired your passion in this area?
I would like to thank Dr. Litzinger for her industrial and organizational class that helped me learn that this was something that I was passionate about. I’d also like to thank Jonathan Eisler for providing me with the opportunity to complete my internship. I was inspired by both Professor Taisey and Professor Page to continue acting and get into theatre.
Can you share a memorable story from your time at Flagler that always makes you smile?
Because of Flagler, I had the opportunity to perform in a show at a conference in North Carolina alongside many of my friends. Taking the final bow and hearing the audience erupt in applause was a truly magical moment. Knowing our performance resonated with students I had never met, and may never meet again, made the experience incredibly meaningful.
Which academic resources, experiences, or mentors at Flagler were most valuable to you, and how did they contribute to your success?
My biggest mentor at Flagler was my music/theatre professor Kip Taisey. Throughout my college career he invested time and resources into my success and also introduced to idea of looking into philanthropy as a possible route for my future. Without him, I would not have been as involved or worked as hard as I did in my college career.
What advice or lesson would you give to your freshman year self about the college experience?
Get involved in every possible way, as it’s the only way to get know people not in your major and find new avenues that you never suspected you could take.
In the Flagler spirit, how do you hope to make history after graduation?
I hope to get involved with more theatre projects, while also finding ways to continue to grow in my knowledge and experience in the field of I.O. psychology.
