Flagler College is honored to announce a $100,000 gift from the Alfred I. duPont Foundation to establish the Alfred I. duPont Foundation Endowed Scholarship for FlagSHIP (Flagler’s Sophomore High Impact Practice).

This new endowed scholarship will be matched one-to-one through a grant from the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, doubling its impact and expanding access for students to the FlagSHIP program, which offers transformative opportunities for global learning, community engagement, and interdisciplinary exploration.

“This scholarship embodies the spirit of FlagSHIP, enabling our students to broaden their perspectives and develop as leaders prepared to make meaningful contributions to society,” said Dr. Brenda Kauffman, Associate Professor of Political Science & International Studies, Director of International Studies, and FlagSHIP Coordinator. “We are deeply grateful to the Alfred I. duPont Foundation for their generosity and commitment to empowering our students through education.”

Established in 1936 by Jessie Ball duPont to honor her late husband, Alfred I. duPont, the Foundation has a long history of supporting education and community initiatives. Alfred I. duPont, an American industrialist, financier, and philanthropist, left a legacy of investing in opportunities that advance innovation and community well-being. This gift continues that legacy by investing in the future of Flagler students.
