Experiences

Flagler College is in historic St. Augustine and just five miles away from the white sandy shores of Anastasia State Park and St. Augustine Beach.

Saint Johns County alone has more than 41 miles of beach, from soft sand to strands made of tiny shells called coquina. Jacksonville Beach to the north and Daytona Beach to the south add even more to your ocean options.

Some of the more popular beach spots in the county are Mickler's Landing to the north, St. Augustine Beach, Butler Beach, Crescent Beach, and Marineland's River to Sea Preserve to the south.

The preserve is near the St. Johns/Flagler County line. Its shore is lined with cinnamon-colored coquina and ancient rock formations that resemble a Mars landscape.

Flagler College has two resort-style pools on campus. The main pool next to Ponce DeLeon Hall is a central spot for relaxing, studying, or swimming. Try a spike over the volleyball net right by the pool.

Students who live in Sebastian House, one of Flagler's residence halls, have access to a second pool. The pool is just for Sebastian House residents, who must be juniors or seniors.

The pools are open from 9 a.m. to dusk and special hours during some events.

The Dock, at 1 Malaga St., is your watersports headquarters!

The Dock and kayak launch sit behind Abare Hall on the San Sebastian River. Students can check out kayaks, paddleboards, and fishing equipment for the best price: Gratis! Nada! Free.

It's a relaxing haven right in your own backyard.
