Three years into his undergraduate career at Flagler College, alumnus Ben Platt ‘97 had to decide between keeping his academic scholarship and marrying his high school sweetheart.

By leading adventures through the wilderness and onto the waves, one Flagler College professor is helping students develop a deeper understanding of literature, the natural world and their place within it.

Before coming to Flagler to work as a campus safety and security officer, retiree Steven Griffin served as a "Seabee" in the US Navy and spent 30 years working as a mailman. After retiring about 14 years ago, Griffin spent some time bartending in Hawaii and then came to Florida where he worked as a ranger at Faver-Dykes State Park.

When Flagler alumna Aubrie Simpson-Gotham, ‘12, graduated, she knew she was going to go into the field of education, just like her mother and other family members.

Dr. Shelly Haser has been named the new chair of the Flagler College Tallahassee campus’ Department of Education. The Education program in Tallahassee has produced more than 900 educators throughout the Northwest Florida region, and more than 60 teachers of the year.

Flagler College’s Institute for Classical Education, which recently hired Director Bradley Rowe, is excited to announce the appointment of Senior Research Fellow Robert L. Jackson, Ph.D. Jackson was welcomed into this role last month, January of 2024, and facilitated the Institute’s most recent Saturday Seminar on Jan. 20 titled, “Fostering Wonder.”
