For some alumni, college is a chapter that closes at graduation. For Jerry Provin ’91, Flagler College has remained a place of memory and meaningful attachment.

Provin’s bond began while he was a student and only deepened with each visit since. “Every time I come back, it immediately takes me back to those innocent times and periods of growth,” he said.

Walking through campus or past Markland House, where he once waited for a friend, Provin is reminded of the memories that made Flagler so precious to him. Those moments of connection are what he wants today’s students to feel, too.

“I talk to alums, current students, and my own recipients, and I learn that what drew me to Flagler is what also drew them. I want to keep that spirit alive,” Provin said.

That desire became even more personal after the loss of his son in 2018. In their grief, his husband, Scott, contacted the school, knowing how special it was to Provin. “It started there,” Jerry Provin said, “it became a way to connect with students and give them the future my son didn’t have, and to give me a chance to remember him.”

Established in his son’s name, the Jeremy A. Provin Memorial Endowed Scholarship currently provides deserving students with financial relief while helping them thrive academically.

Provin’s desire to support students also guides his broader investment in the College, which extends beyond scholarships.

The couple recently named a fireplace in the Ponce Mezzanine to help fund historic preservation.

Provin believes that the College’s beauty and history are essential to the student journey. “I used to sit at that fireplace and study all the time. I want current students to do the same,” he said.  “I also love reading about how this campus is rated among the most beautiful in the world, and the only way to keep that going is to give back.”

Through his service on the Alumni Board of Directors for the last four years and his involvement with the Atlanta Alumni Chapter, Provin, now the Senior Manager, International Audit with Coca-Cola, also enjoys witnessing the profound impact alumni support can have on students’ career trajectories.

“Watching them achieve amazing things, hearing their stories, it sparks wanting to help more,” he said. “It reinforces my belief in supporting the greater good of the College.”

In 2025, Provin received the Lion-Hearted Award, which recognizes outstanding alumni for their exceptional commitment, service, and philanthropic leadership. The honor touched him deeply: “I cried the entire time,” he said. “I don’t donate for the accolades, but it meant the world to me because it showed that what I’m doing is appreciated and that my efforts are making a difference.”

For Provin, giving is about preserving Flagler’s character, keeping cherished memories alive, and ensuring those same lifelong connections can be enjoyed by future generations of Saints. “Even little amounts matter,” he said. “I hope my giving inspires others.”

Whether traveling abroad in a Flagler sweatshirt or gathering with alumni wherever he lands, Provin always carries the school with him. “I’m spreading the word. I’ve met people affiliated with Flagler all over the world,” he said. “Flagler has so much reach, but it’s also so small. That’s what I want my giving to protect.”

Through scholarship support, historic preservation, and ongoing engagement, Provin is transforming his love for Flagler into a lasting impact. Most importantly, his generosity ensures that today’s students can experience the same special sense of belonging that made the College so meaningful to him.
