July 26, 2024
In May of 2024, Flagler College Tallahassee celebrated the achievements of its final graduating class.

For more than 20 years, Flagler College and Tallahassee Community College (TCC) have partnered to provide affordable higher education opportunities for students in the capital city region. This momentous commencement marked a historic the institutions.

Despite the success of the academic programs offered on Flagler’s Tallahassee campus, the landscape of higher education has changed dramatically since Flagler offered its first class in options for students in Florida.

“Flagler College remains in strong financial standing and is adapting to meet changing enrollment trends and student needs,” Flagler’s Director of External and Government Relations Beth Sweeny said. “Since legislation was recently passed for TCC to officially become Tallahassee State College, with the capacity to offer four year degrees, we are confident they will serve the Tallahassee community well.”

“It's a bittersweet moment, but I'm also really proud of what our alumni are doing, and the legacy that they have,” said campus Dean Wayne Riggs.

  • The campus launched in the fall of 2001.
  • Enrollment grew to 100 students during the first academic year and in subsequent years expanded to almost 500
  • Flagler College Tallahassee has a vibrant alumni community of over 3,262 members
  • At the time, Wetherell was responding to a legislative mandate requiring increased opportunities for students seeking four-year degrees and saw Flagler as an ideal collaborator in that mission. Tallahassee Community College recently transitioned to State College status and is now capable of offering 4-year degrees
  • Alumni there contribute significantly to both the public and private sectors, making an especially notable impact in our state's capital city
  • Graduates have embarked on successful careers as teachers, including over 60 teachers of the year, auditors, accountants, executives, and directors, among other roles.
