What is Flagler First Day Complete?

Flagler First Day Complete is a course materials rental program that ensures students have all required textbooks, digital resources, and access codes before classes start at a predictable, low flat price each semester ($330 for full-time students; $165 for part-time students). Enrollment in the program happens automatically when you register for eligible courses, but students always have the option to opt out if they prefer to purchase materials independently.

Getting Started

Register For Classes

Start by registering for classes as you normally would at my.flagler.edu. By registering for classes, you will already be signed up with the First Day program if eligible and if you choose not to opt-out. Once you register, you will automatically be enrolled in the First Day Complete program if you are eligible. If you decide not to participate, you will have the option to opt out at a later date.

Verify Materials

Review and verify that the necessary course materials are listed as you register for your courses. Course materials can be verified HERE.

Select Fulfillment Method

You will receive an email approximately one month before classes begin, prompting you to choose your delivery preference—either in-store pickup or home delivery. The email will include a detailed breakdown of your savings and instructions on how to opt out if you prefer to purchase your course materials independently.

Receive Materials

Get notified as soon as your materials are ready and receive your materials before classes begin. Digital materials will be automatically available in Canvas for you.

Return Materials at End of Semester

Easily return your physical items at the end of the semester. The deadline for returns will be the last day of final exams for the semester. You will receive email reminders of the deadline periodically.

Cost Comparison

Our First Day Complete program often costs less than purchasing textbooks and materials individually, especially in courses that require access codes or digital platforms. As a full-time student, you'll pay a low rate of $330 per semester for all of your books and materials, and only $165 per semester as a part-time student.

First Day Complete is a course material delivery model that simplifies the student experience, lowers the cost of materials, and ensures students have access to all required course materials on or before the first day of class. Through this innovative program, physical books are conveniently packaged and provided to students on a rental basis, and access to digital material is done directly within Canvas, with low rates of $330 per semester for full-time students and $165 per semester for part-time students. At the end of the term, you will receive email reminders to return rented physical course materials to the bookstore.

  • Register for your classes, and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials
  • One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you)
  • An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships
  • Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Canvas

The program provides all required textbooks, eTextbooks, lab manuals, and access codes to eligible students.

The program does not include optional materials nor consumable course supplies that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, dissection kits, additional art supplies, materials bought outside of class requirements, etc.

All eligible undergraduate students enrolled in fall, spring, or summer semesters will be automatically enrolled in the First Day® Complete program as soon as you register for class. You'll be able to verify your course materials HERE.

Full-time and part-time undergraduate students enrolled in Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters are eligible and automatically enrolled in the Flagler First Day Complete program.  Excluded programs are graduate courses, PAD, J-Term, and Maymester.

Yes, you can opt out of the program each semester before add/drop deadlines for for that term. Your opt-out confirmation email will include specific dates. Visit our site HERE to opt-out.

By opting out, you will be responsible for purchasing your own materials. Options for purchasing course materials after opting out can be found on the bookstore website or other sources.

Yes, use the opt-out confirmation email link to re-enroll before the add/drop deadline. 

If you opt-out, you will be responsible for purchasing your required course materials through the bookstore or through other means.

The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of final exams for the semester. You will receive reminders ahead of the rental deadline to your Flagler.edu email address.

If you have financial aid funds in excess of your semester charges, your financial aid will be automatically applied against the First Day Complete charge for your books. If you opt-out of the program before the deadline, the First Day Complete charge will be removed from your bill.  

You can use your aid on course materials, including books, supplies, computers & accessories.

Yes, the program provides you with the option to purchase any rental textbooks at a reduced rate during the semester.

Yes, you will still be required to return rented textbooks at the end of the semester.  You will be issued the same title if required for the next course.

You will receive email notifications from the bookstore reminding you to verify your order and choose your fulfillment preference. If you do not opt-out, your materials will be held at the bookstore and your student account will be charged.

Yes, if you do not opt-out, physical materials will be held at the bookstore, digital materials will be accessed through Canvas, and your student account will be charged.

If course materials have been picked up or delivered for the dropped class, those materials should be returned to the bookstore within 48 hours. If you drop a class and enroll in a different class, the bookstore will “swap” the required course materials so that you have what you need.

Yes, you will have 48 hours to return your textbooks. If you do not return the textbooks, the charges for the bundle will remain on your student account and you will be subject to a replacement and non-return processing fee.

The charge is added at the start of each term’s billing cycle.

No, J-Term and Maymester are not included in this program. Any course materials will be purchased or rented as you normally would.
