Ed McGinley
I have been at Flagler College for 14 years, and currently hold the role of Department Chair for the Natural Sciences. My specialties lie at the intersection of ecology and undergraduate research. I consistently mentor CES and BIO majors through the process of research on topics related to sea turtles, fish, and plankton.

Area of Research:
I am interested in looking at the animals that live in our local estuary, specifically looking at fish, crabs, sea turtles and squid. The goal of my research is to figure out what types of these organisms we have here, and why they are located where we find them. This requires us to be out in the water, either on the shore, on a marina, or on a boat to sample the different life we have here. I am always in need of student volunteers and there is no experience needed, just a willingness to get wet and dirty!
More Information
I try to stay active in the local community to raise awareness about local environment issues that we face. I do this by presenting at local conferences open to the public and serving on the Advisory Board for the Matanzas Riverkeeper. In these capacities I can share the research that my students and I conduct and help increase a healthy appreciation for our natural resources.
