Professional Profile

I am currently in my 6th year at Flagler College in the Natural Sciences Department. I truly enjoy interacting with students in the classroom and getting them out into our local estuary to see the amazing variety of life we have here. Students who take my classes can expect to have a good number of their labs outside, getting wet and muddy to collect data. The students should also expect to use that data to answer research questions we have outlined in the lab that day.

Area of Research:

I am interested in looking at the animals that live in our local estuary, specifically looking at fish, crabs, and squid. The goal of my research is to figure out what types of these organisms we have here, and why they are located where we find them. This requires us to be out in the water, either on the shore, on a marina, or on a boat to sample the different life we have here. I am always in need of student volunteers and there is no experience needed, just a willingness to get wet and dirty!

More Information

I try to stay active in the local community to raise awareness about local environment issues that we face. I do this by presenting at local conferences open to the public and serving on the Advisory Board for the Matanzas Riverkeeper. In these capacities I can share the research that my students and I conduct and help increase a healthy appreciation for our natural resources.
