Flagler Forum on Youth and Family Ministry

The Flagler Forum on Youth and Family Ministry is designed for Youth, Children and Family Ministry professionals and volunteers to gain new insights, skills and ideas for ministry.  Registration includes lunch in our beautiful college dining hall. Expect meaningful worship, engaging lectures and workshops, as well as enriching fellowship with others passionate about ministering to young people and their families.

Amanda Purvis is the Vice President of Global Impact at All God’s Children International and a recognized leader in developmental trauma and child welfare. With more than 20 years of experience in both local and global settings, Amanda is passionate about helping children, families, and communities heal and thrive through trauma-informed care and connection-centered approaches.

Amanda is known for making complex topics like trauma, attachment, and resilience practical and accessible for everyday life, ministry, and leadership. She has worked alongside organizations, caregivers, and systems around the world to help create environments where children and families can flourish.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Metropolitan State University and a master’s degree in criminal justice and criminology from Texas Christian University. Amanda is also a mom of five who deeply believes in the power of community, healing, humor, and one caring adult to change a life.

David C. Wang, Th.M., Ph.D. is the Cliff and Joyce Penner Chair for the Formation of Emotionally Healthy Leaders and Professor of Psychology and Spiritual Formation at Fuller Theological Seminary (Pasadena, CA, USA).  He is also pastor of spiritual formation at One Life City Church (Fullerton, CA) and a licensed psychologist (drdavidcwang.com).  His academic and applied work focuses on the holistic formation of Christian leaders, inclusive of the formation of emotional health and resilience alongside the leader’s intellectual and spiritual formation. He was the past editor of the Journal of Psychology and Theology from 2017-2024 and conducts research on trauma and traumatic stress, spiritual formation and spiritual theology, clergy mental health, and various topics related to multicultural psychology, peace, and justice.  He also oversees research grants funded by the John Templeton Foundation, Templeton Religion Trust, and the Templeton Would Charity Foundation (on the human and spiritual formation of global and ecumenical Christian leaders; globalformationproject.com) as well as the Lilly Endowment (on mobilizing diverse local congregations to meet the spiritual and mental health needs of trauma survivors).
