What are your central passion(s), and how do you plan to pursue them after graduation?
I am passionate about building products that can help people and make an impact on a large scale. Since the beginning, I pitched Layoff Lookout at the Lions Cage in my freshman year, a platform to provide early notifications to employees of mass layoffs. Then, in my second year, I won the competition with SuIts.ai, an AI chatbot that simplified complex contracts that everyone had to sign, such as new employment contracts, lease agreements, etc.
These pitch competitions were an opportunity to get my ideas out there as well as make connections that can help me in the future.
Who or what inspired your passion in this area?
When I was 16, I went on a trip to Washington, D.C., and successfully lobbied Congress in support of a climate change bill. From that point forward, I realized that I was able to make a difference and that my voice and actions could have an impact on a large scale. Since then, it has been all that I wanted to do.
Can you share a memorable story from your time at Flagler that always makes you smile?
Winning the Lions Cage, I put a lot of time into sculpting and building that product, pitch, and presentation, and it was a great feeling to have it pay off.
Which academic resources, experiences, or mentors at Flagler were most valuable to you, and how did they contribute to your success?
The Business Advisory Board and the business faculty and professors at Flagler were invaluable to my success. They were extremely supportive of my ideas and always took the time to help answer any questions I had.
What advice or lesson would you give to your freshman year self about the college experience?
Do all of your work ahead of time, save all of the lecture slideshows, you never know when you will need to go back to them. ASK QUESTIONS!
In the Flagler spirit, how do you hope to make history after graduation?
I look forward to the launch and growth of LayoffLookout.com.
