Flagler College’s non-degree seeking Lifelong Learning Courses provide the greater St. Augustine community with a dynamic and engaging environment where they can learn and grow together. Spanning important global and local topics, these courses are designed to be intriguing and stimulating for adult learners.

Dr. Courtney Kersten is an Assistant Professor of English. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Idaho and a PhD in Literature and Feminist Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She was a Fulbright Fellow to Riga, Latvia, and is the author of Daughter in Retrograde (University of Wisconsin 2018).

Dr. Joshua Behl is an Assistant Professor of Criminology and the Director of the Criminology program. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in August of 2016 where he also received his BA and MA. Dr. Behl's research interests are found at the intersection of psychology and the law. Using criminological, psychological, and sociological theories, he has researched the topics of witness behavior, alibis, and jury decision-making. Dr. Behl applies this research to real-world cases in his work as a trial consultant.

Visiting Filmmaker, Jim Gilmore is a documentary filmmaker whose work focuses on American culture, social justice, and history. He is the director of over 20 films on a variety of topics, from Zimbabwe: A Racial Revolution (1988) about the transition from white-ruled Rhodesia to black-ruled Zimbabwe, to Fielding Dreams (2023), which profiles the life of major league baseball scouts. Gilmore holds a MA in Broadcasting and Film from the University of Iowa and has 23 years of college teaching experience as an assistant, associate, and full professor of communication, both at Flagler College and the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy will present a lecture delivered by Director of Internet and Technology Research for the Pew Research Center, Lee Rainie on February 17, 2022 at 7 pm in Lewis Auditorium. He will present “Tech, Tribes and Trust: The Megatrends Shaping American Life.” This event is free and open to the public.

When Associate Professor of History, Kelly Enright, first started teaching at Flagler ten years ago, her hope was that one day she could find a hands-on approach to educating her students about the past. Passionate about the many stories St. Augustine’s past holds, she was inspired to develop a way for her students to creatively engage with this history.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month began on April 1, and this year marks its 21st anniversary. Flagler College's Title IX office is hosting multiple events on campus throughout the month to highlight the importance of sexual assault awareness and prevention.

A cluster of tents lining the main sidewalk of Flagler’s West Lawn has become an anticipated sight on campus for many who look forward to browsing hand-crafted products from local artisans on their lunch break.

After his Hall of Fame college career as pitcher and captain of the University of Pennsylvania baseball team, Jud Damon began his profession in collegiate athletics. Over the years, he has served as athletics administrator or coach at institutions in the NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and NCCAA. In addition, Damon has held positions in front office management with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Montreal Expos professional baseball teams.

Donn Garby, assistant director of housing operations, joined the Student Affairs department in the fall of 2021. Garby is a Class of 2016 Flagler alumnus who served as SGA President during his time here. He was also the Assistant Program Director for the Campus Activities Board, Founder of the U.S. Military Veterans Club on campus, and an ambassador in the Office of Admissions among numerous other extracurricular positions held. Following his time at Flagler, Garby earned his master's degree in higher education/ higher education administration at Old Dominion University. Garby then earned his Doctor of Philosophy in higher education/ higher education administration from Rowan University.
