Flagler College Awarded Gold Level for 2022 Healthiest Companies

Flagler College was recently awarded the Gold Level Award for 2022 Healthiest Companies by the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council (FCWWC) for creating a culture of health and wellness within the organization. Award recipients were honored at the Annual First Coast Worksite Wellness Conference on June 8, 2022, at the University of North Florida.

Dorothy FireCloud, NPS Native American Affairs Liaison, to speak at Flagler College

Flagler College and the National Park Service, with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, announce a Native American Heritage Month program. On November 16 and 17, 2022, special events will take place to remember and honor the Cheyenne and Arapaho warriors imprisoned at Fort Marion (Castillo de San Marcos) from 1875-1878. The events feature memorial ceremonies, remembrances, and educational sessions.

Eighth Annual Power of the Purse® Fundraiser Planned at Flagler College

The Women of Vision Advisory Board of Flagler College announces its signature fundraiser, the Power of the Purse®, on May 11, 2023. This premier event features a silent auction of designer handbags and other unique items, a raffle of fine jewelry, and a luncheon and speaker in the Grand Dining Room of historic Ponce de Leon Hall. This year the Power of the Purse® will introduce a new program element: a live auction of several exciting vacation excursions.

The first Earth Day celebration was held on April 22, 1970, to recognize the modern environmental movement. Since then, Earth Day has become a modern global holiday where groups and individuals can take action in preserving our planet. We asked some of our Flagler community what Earth Day means to them and how they celebrate.

Erin Kendrick’s The Hotelmen comes to CEAM

The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum at Flagler College will proceed in its Fall 2022 season with a solo exhibition by Jacksonville-based artist Erin Kendrick, entitled The Hotelmen. The exhibition will be on view from November 4 to December 2, 2022. The opening reception will be held on Friday, November 4th from 5 to 8 p.m., in conjunction with First Friday Artwalk. Special guest Dr. Gylbert Coker, an African American art historian, curator, and museum director who has worked to establish Black artists and art in the canon of American art will join the artist in conversation during the reception, starting at 6 p.m.

Faculty Spotlight: Barbara Blonder

For almost 20 years, Professor Barbara Blonder has been a beloved faculty member of Flagler’s Natural Sciences Department. During her time at Flagler, Blonder has left a lasting impact on the College. She has served as Director of Undergraduate Research, Chair of the Faculty Senate, and was an instrumental figure in establishing the Coastal Environmental Science major. In 2020, Blonder extended her impact into the local community, being elected as a Commissioner for the City of St. Augustine.
