The Flagler College Women of Vision Advisory Board is excited to announce the highly successful "Power of the Purse" fundraiser will return to the Flagler College campus, in person, for the first time in two years on May 12, 2022, in the Ponce de Leon Hall.

First introduced in 2015, the event features a designer handbag silent auction, a fine jewelry raffle, and a luncheon in the Grand Dining Hall of the Hotel Ponce de Leon. Funds raised support scholarships and educational opportunities for deserving women attending Flagler College.

Each year, the lively event was held on campus until the COVID epidemic forced its cancellation in 2020. Then, in 2021, the fundraiser took place in a virtual format. Fortunately, support from generous sponsors and donors over the last two years allowed the Women of Vision to continue the tradition of awarding scholarships.

As in the past, the event includes a silent auction of designer purses and many other unique items, a jewelry raffle, and a luncheon and speaker in the historic Ponce de Leon Grand Dining Hall. Funds raised will support scholarships for deserving female students. Since its inception in 2015, the Power of the Purse has raised more than $388,000, providing 49 scholarships and establishing a $420,000 Women of Vision Endowment.

"We are so very pleased to be able to host this year's Power of the Purse at Flagler College," said Women of Vision Advisory Board Chair Linda Allen-Hawkins. "We have really missed the opportunity to gather with so many amazing women from our campus and local community during the silent auction in the Flagler Room and luncheon in the Grand Dining Hall."

This year's program will feature guest speaker Jamie Henry, CEO of Bee Line Support and a 1994 graduate of Flagler College. She was named an Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 Midwest Award Finalist. The award program, sponsored by Ernst & Young and in its 35th year, honors "unstoppable business leaders whose ambition, ingenuity and courage in the face of adversity help catapult them to success."

"Jamie Henry should be an inspiration to us all," said Janice Long, Chair of the 2022 Power of the Purse. "She has accomplished so much, especially during the trying times of the past few years. She has also recently won a 19th Annual Enterprising Women of the Year Award, one of the most prestigious recognition programs for women business owners in the U.S. and globally! We will also hear from Emma Wilkinson, the most recent Robin Cooper Memorial Scholarship recipient."
