The American Marketing Association (AMA) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the field of marketing and supporting students and professionals through education, resources, and networking opportunities. Its collegiate chapters provide students with hands-on experience and exposure to real-world marketing practices.
Attending the conference were students Eryn Wagner, Maria Montero, Isabella Valladares, and Jiavanna Habib, accompanied by advisor Michelle Woodhouse. With support from the College of Business and guidance from Woodhouse, the group traveled to Chicago and the conference took place-at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk.
Hosted by the AMA, the conference provided students with opportunities to apply marketing concepts in real-world settings while engaging with a global network of peers and professionals.
One of those key opportunities was the Marketplace Simulation, where students managed a virtual company by making strategic decisions related to investments, pricing, and marketing. The Flagler team developed “Saint Cycle,” an eco-friendly bicycle brand, and competed in a fast-paced, data-driven environment against other universities.
The chapter also participated in the Perfect Pitch Competition where more than 600 students participated from different chapters, where Jiavanna Habib advanced to the finalist round, marking a notable achievement for the team.
In addition, students took part in a t-shirt competition, where their design attracted attention from attendees and helped facilitate conversations with other chapters throughout the conference.
Beyond competition, the conference emphasized professional development. Students attended speaker sessions, interactive workshops, and a career fair, where they connected with companies, explored internship opportunities, and gained insight into potential career paths in marketing.
Throughout the event, participants engaged with students from different states and countries, exchanging ideas and building connections that extended beyond the conference.
As the conference concluded, the Flagler AMA chapter returned with new knowledge, professional connections, and hands-on experience to support their future careers.
