The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum (CEAM) and Flagler College are delighted to announce the Second Annual Finger Mullet Film Festival (FMFF) to be held at CEAM Thursday, May 18 through Saturday, May 20, at various times. This event is free and open to the public.

The festival will kick off on Thursday, May 18, at 5 pm, with an opening reception that will include an exhibition of artwork created by The PLAYERS Championship Boys and Girls Club students. At 7 pm, we will screen video works, including Reparation Hardware, by New York-based artist llana Harris-Babou, to be followed by a panel discussion with the artist, Dr. Lori Lee, Kenan Distinguished Professor of Liberal Education in Anthropology, and Dr. Nicholas Miller, Assistant Professor of History, Flagler College. This event will also be live-streamed at: https://youtube.com/live/ZeNN3M5tpj0?feature=share.

FMFF is dedicated to nurturing an experimental art and film culture in St Augustine by providing an inspired platform for the best national and international short films alongside a burgeoning local and regional culture of time-based creators and storytellers. We aim to discover, cultivate and screen new local narratives to generate critical discussion and empower community collaboration. This year’s festival brings together film and video shorts by regional, national, and international artists and filmmakers, including a screening block dedicated to student work, a participatory performance with Cyriaco Lopes, Terri Witek, and Kevin Mahoney, and a night of live performance paired with video and film.

The artists and filmmakers included in this year’s Open Call / Curated screening blocks have harnessed the theme, Local Waters. This theme acknowledges water's role in the difficult history of our community, many communities worldwide, and our democracy. Water is essential to life. It can provide vital coastal resources one day and life-threatening weather the next. We understand that to live in St Augustine, or near any significant body of water, is to know the beauty of water as a force of nature and a cultural symbol of power.

The festival schedule is listed below, and a complete list of participants will be listed at www.flagler.edu/fmff and www.fingermulletfilmfestival.com.

The Finger Mullet Film Festival was created by Patrick Moser and Kevin Mahoney, Flagler College Distinguished Professors of Art, and Julie Dickover, Director of the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum.
