If you choose to pursue Public History here, you'll do more than read about the past. You'll learn it, live it, and help preserve it. You'll also get real-world experience with two required internships in and around St. Augustine, the nation's oldest city. Our courses do more than teach you history. They make you a historian. Learn through study, research, internships, and community projects. You'll collect oral histories, research historic buildings, log artifacts, and create exhibits.

History is everywhere, and so are we. Public History students gain hands-on practice with group projects. Public History majors complete two internships, too.

We offer a major in Public History along with two minors: Public History for History Majors and Public History for Non-Majors.

Flagler professor builds initiative to digitally document St. Augustine history

When Associate Professor of History, Kelly Enright, first started teaching at Flagler ten years ago, her hope was that one day she could find a hands-on approach to educating her students about the past. Passionate about the many stories St. Augustine’s past holds, she was inspired to develop a way for her students to creatively engage with this history.
