Bodhi
Professional Profile
Bodhi, a 5-year-old Golden Retriever, serves as Flagler College's Certified Goody Boy. He has been a beloved member of the community for the past two years, but his ties to the campus go much deeper—he’s an alumni and recent 2022 graduate, having been on campus since his puppyhood while supporting his handler during their studies. As a trained service animal, Bodhi brings both intelligence and charm to his role, providing more than just good looks and wagging tails. Known around campus for his signature stuffed taco, Bodhi makes it his mission to brighten the day of every person he encounters. Whether greeting students, staff, or local shopkeepers on his daily rounds, Bodhi’s friendly demeanor and goofy personality make him a campus favorite.
Teaching
Though Bodhi may not hold office hours in the traditional sense, he is an expert instructor in key life lessons. His teaching specialties include Advanced Napping Techniques (best practiced in warm, sunlit areas), Wilderness Exploration (as demonstrated by his enthusiastic approach to campus walks), and Mindfulness 101 (offered in the form of quiet, soulful glances and a calming presence). His classes are informal yet highly impactful—students often report leaving his sessions feeling less stressed and more joyful. Bodhi’s ability to bring people together through simple gestures of kindness and play is a lesson that resonates throughout the entire campus.
Research
Bodhi is deeply committed to ongoing research in several fields, including Nose-led Exploration and Innovative Snack Retrieval Techniques. His work in these areas involves detailed studies of local scents, particularly those originating from nearby restaurants and food carts. Bodhi is also a pioneer in Advanced Canine Communication, often employing his famous "puppy dog eyes" to ensure the timely delivery of treats or belly rubs. His current project, titled The Impact of Daily Toy Carrying on Campus Morale, is an observational study in which he carries a stuffy on his rounds, gathering data through tail wags and student smiles. Preliminary findings suggest that toy-carrying can significantly boost campus-wide happiness.
