What are your central passion(s), and how do you plan to pursue them after graduation? How have your experiences at Flagler shaped these passions?
I love all things pop culture and advertising. If a brand has posted a fun campaign in the last 10 years or a celebrity has done something iconic, I probably know way too much about it. I would have never thought that passion would be beneficial for a career, but then I discovered marketing and communications, and I was hooked! After graduation, I’ll be moving to New York City to work on the brand strategy team at Victoria’s Secret. I also pride myself on being a people person, and going to Flagler, where there’s such an emphasis on connection with your professors and classmates, was so beneficial to me. I can’t wait to use those skills in the real world.
Who or what inspired your passion in this area?
I grew up loving YouTubers and Disney Channel stars and loved to learn all about them, and that led to my pop-culture obsession, and the rest was history.
Can you share a memorable story from your time at Flagler that always makes you smile? What made this moment special for you?
I think a lot of my fellow Class of 2025 students may have the same answer that one of the coolest things Flagler has ever done was bringing Dayglow to campus our freshman year! It was the fall of freshman year, so everything was still new, and going to a free concert with all of your new friends was such a magical feeling.
Which academic resources, experiences, or mentors at Flagler were most valuable to you, and how did they contribute to your success?
I really benefited from the small class sizes here at Flagler. I was able to make connections with my professors that led to opportunities I would’ve never gotten at a larger school. My first job at college was interning with the social media department at Flagler, and I got to help run Flagler’s official social media pages. That put me so far ahead when I applied for internships outside of Flagler, I was able to get experience and build my resume very early on.
What advice or lesson would you give to your freshman year self about the college experience?
Find your people. Flagler is small enough that you will see the same people all the time; you might as well get to know them. Say hi to everyone you can and make those connections!!!
In the Flagler spirit, how do you hope to make history after graduation? Share any exciting experiences, professional positions, or unique opportunities you have lined up.
One of my biggest life goals is to make it on the Flagler notable alumni page on Wikipedia. While I don’t know the specifics yet of how I’m going to make it on there, I am determined to make it happen!
