What was your course of study at Flagler and how did it equip you to enter your current professional industry?
My degree in psychology was very helpful in my decision to pursue a career in medicine. This course of study also underscored the impact I could have in helping people.
What was your first job after graduating from Flagler and how did you secure it?
My first job after graduating was as a resident physician. I secured this position through my medical school.
What role did this first job play in the course of your professional career?
It was the steppingstone to my training and later a more executive role in delivering care to underserved populations.
Before graduating from Flagler, where could you see yourself living as a young professional and why?
I liked the idea of living in a larger city but not so large that it would have been difficult to navigate or meet people.
What were some of the factors that led you to move to Atlanta, professionally or otherwise?
I wanted to stay in the south. But I also wanted to live in a more progressive and growing city.
How common/ represented is your industry of work in Atlanta?
Atlanta has a large healthcare community.
How would you describe Atlanta as a place to work?
Friendly, large but not so large you cannot meet people and not so large that you’ll get lost. It is progressive and has many growing industries in science, tech and the arts.
How would you describe Atlanta as a place to live?
I really like it. I have moved around several times with work. But I have continued to come back to Atlanta. It has a very large airport. So, I can call it home yet travel almost anywhere in a few hours.
What are three things you love about living in Atlanta that you think would be hard to find somewhere else?
- The people (the diversity).
- The career opportunities.
- The ease of travel.
