Against the backdrop of a booming regional healthcare industry, students minoring in Health Sciences at Flagler College can enhance their career prospects and personal well-being.

Flagler College has received a $30,000 grant from Siemens’ Empower+ to support two vital initiatives within the College community.

When you imagine the face of a donor, the vision that emerges is rarely one of a young, 20-something-year-old man fresh out of college. But James Mernik, '21, is that donor. Upon inheriting a giving account from his late grandparents, Mernik was tasked with perpetuating their lifelong interest in philanthropy.

Growing up in Polk County, Fla., Hunter Miller has always appreciated the natural world. But it wasn’t until 2017 that he was able to use this respect for the Earth to fuel his career. Miller graduated from Flagler College in 2011 with a degree in Public Administration, and now serves as Field Campaign Manager at Oceana.

Jefferey Spivey, ’05, is a St. Louis-based author, poet and journalist who is currently editor at Northstar Publishing. He won the 2023 Iron Horse Book Prize and was named runner-up for Poets & Writers’ 2023 Maureen Egen Writers Exchange Award.

It was a viral video of a chimpanzee named Vanilla seeing the sky for the first time that captured the hearts of Americans, and helped Flagler College alumnus Dr. Andrew Halloran, '95, raise awareness about the plight of animals kept in labs and cages for most of their lives.
