Program Requirements

Anthropology is split into three subfields:

  • Archaeology
  • Physical anthropology
  • Cultural anthropology

Regardless of your subfield, you'll learn in St. Augustine, a city rich in ancient and modern history with plenty of hands-on discovery opportunities. The Spanish founded the city in 1565, and it has been continuously occupied ever since. St. Augustine's culturally varied mix of people left behind remnants of material culture for us to uncover and analyze. Before European occupation, the area was home to thriving Native American cultures. That makes Flagler an exciting place to pursue an anthropology degree.

In each subfield, you'll learn theories as well as research methods. You'll apply them to modern problems and interpret life in the past. After completing your major coursework, you'll get a bachelor's degree in Anthropology. Every Flagler student also completes the college's unique and distinctive Core general education requirements.

A minor in Anthropology lets you choose a subfield of anthropology. You can customize your program to complement majors in many other disciplines. Students with minors must take a minimum of 18 hours in anthropology.
