Elementary/Exceptional Student Education

When you join Flagler College as an elementary/ESE major, you'll be joining one of Florida's top programs.

That's according to the  Florida Department of Education, which ranked Flagler College's Elementary/Exceptional Student Education/ESOL/Reading program No. 1 in the state with four other colleges and universities in its 2021 annual performance report.

Program Requirements

Once you complete your coursework and pass your Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FCTEs), you can get your Florida Exceptional Student Education certification to teach grades K-12 and elementary Education (K-6). Plus, you'll get in-demand endorsements in English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and reading.

You'll study professional education, elementary pedagogy, and exceptional student education. Our coursework follows the standards and ethics of the Council for Exceptional Children. You also get to be part of classroom instruction in St. Johns County schools and other approved districts. That hands-on learning will help prepare you for your own classroom.
