Assistant Professor, Criminology

Professional Profile

Dr. Kelly Vannan has been teaching at Flagler College since 2017 in the Behavioral Sciences Department. Her areas of interest are juvenile delinquency, correctional counseling, and social disorganization. Dr. Vannan received her Ph.D. from the University of Central Florida, but the path that led her to her doctoral program spanned several years and various states, including Hawai’i, California, Idaho, New York, and, finally, Florida. The opportunity to study criminology across a wide variety of regions sparked Dr. Vannan’s interest in how geographical and social factors impact crime. Additionally, her former career as a professional boxer brought her into contact with a diverse population of people, including at-risk and marginalized youth, which sparked her interest in juvenile delinquency. Prior to teaching full-time at Flagler College, she taught at the University of North Florida.
