Resident Artist

Professional Profile

Elaina Wahl-Temple has been a professional actress since age 7.

Originally from Baltimore, she grew up in a local repertory theater, performing with her sister and mother. She toured nationally and performed on historical stages, such as Atlanta's Fox Theatre and Baltimore's Lyric Opera House. While attending a performing arts high school, she was honored to receive a Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Award. She was also part of an anti-vandalism campaign for the state of Maryland.

After graduation (as a class of one!), she attended Butler University, where she graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Performing Arts (dance, theatre, and music) with a minor in costume design and construction.

Since then, she has worked regionally at many theatres, including The Good Speed Opera House. As a costumer, she apprenticed with international award-winning designer Dan Pugh and worked as "first hand" at The Goodman Theatre in Chicago. Costume design credits include work with MoMing Dance Company and Interplay Theatre Company and several seasons with South Jersey Regional Theatre and Dundalk Community College's Cockpit in Court.

She is now Flagler College's resident designer. In 2011 and 2016, she was awarded the Kennedy Center—Meritorious Achievement Award for Excellence in Design (in College Theatre, KCACTF) for her work on Flagler College's productions of "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" and "The Maids." In 2017, she was awarded KCACTF's National Excellence in Design award for her designs for "The Maids."

Performing credits include Mickey in the national tour of "My One and Only," Madeline in "Ziegfeld: A Night at the Follies," and Yvonne Chandal in the off-Broadway production of "A Flea in Her Ear."

She hasn't limited herself to the stage; she also has many television credits as well, including appearances on Loving, As the World Turns, and Saturday Night Live. She currently lives in St. Augustine with her husband, Tom, and son, Alex, and is proud to be a member of Flagler College's Theatre Department faculty member.
