Professional Profile

Professor Marcil launched his film and television career in the graduate film program at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts after earning a BA in English from the University of Rochester. Subsequently, he developed a producing and writing career in both film and television, where he has produced, executive-produced, and created over 100 hours of television, including Emmy and Golden Globe nominated productions. Allan moved from Los Angeles to St. Augustine, where he earned a MA in English and began a second career in academia. He is a member of The Writer’s Guild of America and remains active as a writer while teaching Screenwriting for film and tv at Flagler, along with other courses in the English and Communication Departments. In the Spring of 2022, Prof. Marcil and Dr. Yvan Kelly will be taking a FlagSHIP class to Los Angeles to study diversity in the Entertainment Business.
