Help When You Need It

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) exists to help you excel in your course work by offering academic assistance and a quiet place to study.

The Math and Business Lab now offers tutoring in:

  • accounting
  • financial management
  • finance quantitative methods in business
  • and economics

You can also make appointments with tutors in:

  • the Writing Center
  • the Science Learning Lab

By making an appointment, you can ensure that the tutor you work with has taken the course for which you’re seeking help! And as always, students may also walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis.

Academic Success Lab

The Academic Success Lab, directed by Professor Mary Rogers-Grantham, helps you develop effective test-taking, content reading, time management, speaking, and listening strategies. Help with critical thinking skills and memorization techniques is also available.

English for Academic Purposes Center

The English for Academic Purposes Support Center offers peer and faculty tutoring to support multilingual learners' English literacy skills. The full spectrum of language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking, and thinking), will be addressed, with an emphasis on written communication. 

This lab offers assistance in:

  • The conventions of academic English
  • The rhetorical and organizational features of college-level expository writing
  • The accepted documentation and attribution standards used in North America

Math and Business

LabThe Math Lab, coordinated by Professor Rich Smatt, offers peer tutoring for all Flagler math courses including algebra, geometry, statistics, and business calculus. GRE and LSAT prep, and Course Compass and calculator setup are also available.

Writing Center

The Writing Center, directed by Professor Jay Szczepanski (JSzczepanski@flagler.edu), provides an opportunity for you to work one-on-one with either a peer tutor or a member of the English Department faculty. You're encouraged to bring any type of writing assignment for help with all parts of the writing process from brainstorming to final editing. The Writing Center also offers evening hours in the Proctor Library.
