Flagler College Announces 2022-2023 Public Lecture Series Lineup

August 29, 2022

Flagler College is pleased to present its 2022-2023 public lecture series lineup. This series includes distinguished speakers selected by Kenan professors, nationally recognized journalists and commentators through the Forum on Government and Public Policy and a Cecil and Gene Usdin Judeo-Christian series lecturer.

About the Series

The William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, which has operated for more than 50 years under the family of Henry Flagler’s last wife Mary Lily Kenan, has aided the College’s advancement in various ways including funding distinguished professorships for outstanding faculty. Two of the distinguished professors, Dr. Michael Butler and Chris Balaschak, chose this year’s Kenan speakers and will act as hosts of those lectures.

Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy has been inviting journalists and commentators of diverse ideology to speak on topics of politics, government affairs, public policy and international relations since 1988. These lectures deal with issues of the regional, state and national importance.

And funded by college donors, Cecil and Gene Usdin, this series will also include a lecture with a religious lens as a part of their Judeo-Christian lecture series. In the past, the Usdin lecture series has hosted speakers like Rev. Michael Patella, professor of New Testament St. Johns School of Theology, and Father Columba, an American Benedictine monk and scholar.

The sponsors for this academic year’s public lecture series include Casa Monica Hotel in historic downtown St. Augustine and Leonard’s photography.

Lectures are free and open to the public. If you are a person with a disability and need reasonable accommodations, please contact Jamie Saul at 904-826-8716. Sign Language Interpreters are available upon request with a minimum of three days' notice.  Visit www.flagler.edu/forum for more information.
