Professional Profile

Dr. MinJi Kim is an Assistant Professor of Strategic Communication / Public Relations at Flagler College. She holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in Media Arts and Sciences from Indiana University Bloomington.

Dr. Kim teaches courses in strategic communication, including Media Literacy, Health Communication, and Social Media Management. Her research employs mixed-method approaches to examine how media messages shape psychological well-being, health decision-making, and audience engagement.

In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. Kim serves as the department’s Social Media Director (Instagram.com/flaglercom), where she leads digital strategy and audience engagement initiatives while mentoring student interns in content creation, analytics, and professional social media management. Beginning in Spring 2026, Dr. Kim launched the course Event Planning and Management to support the department’s annual conference, COM Week. The course provides students with hands-on, project-based experience in planning, executing, and managing live sessions, while actively involving them in the development of event themes and session concepts for future iterations of COM Week.

At Flagler College, Dr. Kim has contributed to institutional service through committees such as Undergraduate Research and the Center for Global Education. She is also actively involved in academic and professional organizations, including the Korean American Communication Association (KACA), Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), Public Relations Society of America (PRSA; on a DEI Committee), American Marketing Association (AMA), International Communication Association (ICA), and American Psychological Association (APA). Through her integrated approach to teaching, research, and service, Dr. Kim advances scholarship and practice in communication and media effects within global and interdisciplinary contexts.
