Jeanette Vigliotti

An alumna of Flagler College, Jeanette Vigliotti has been a dedicated member of the city and college community since her time as an undergraduate – when she worked with College Relations to support programs open to the people of St. Augustine.

For the past ten years, Jeanette has channeled her passion for our city through the St. Augustine Historical Society. She has held instrumental positions in exhibit curation, collaborative public programming, educational outreach, and managing social media. Of particular note, she co-curated a community-focused museum exhibit, "Surf Culture in St. Augustine." Most recently, Jeanette was named Editor-in-Chief of The El Escribano: The St. Augustine Journal of History. She also serves in a leadership role for "Resilience: Black Heritage in St. Augustine," a collaboration of local museums, libraries, colleges, and universities working together to make the histories of Black St. Augustinians more accessible to the public.

Jeanette's work at Flagler College has focused on student learning and success, particularly in her capacities as Student Success Advisor and Honors Program Coordinator. Having studied literature, history, and creative writing, she is a passionate lifelong learner and teacher. She has taught various classes, including First-Year Seminar, Topics in College Writing, and Introduction to Literature. Her courses often utilize the unique aspects of the ancient city. Her students can frequently be found visiting sites in St. Augustine and interacting with community experts.

Jeanette holds a MA in English Literature and Language from the University of North Florida. This spring, she will complete her Ph.D. in Media Art Text from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her forthcoming dissertation project, "Who's Consuming You?: Technoscientific and Literary Imaginaries of Labor and Hunger in Facebook and Instagram",  brings together the disciplines of science and technology studies, poetry, literature, and digital studies.
