Flagler College Counseling Services is dedicated to providing high-quality and culturally competent mental health services to all students. We strive to enhance the student experience by supporting students in the development of the skills, attitudes and behaviors essential for personal growth, psychological well-being and academic success.

Meet the Team

Amanda Bleak
Amanda Elyse Bleak, M.S., LMHC
Assistant Director | Licensed Mental Health Counselor | Counseling Center

Location: 65 Valencia Street - Tinlin House

Amanda Elyse Bleak currently serves as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the Flagler College Counseling Center. She joins us from Flagler Hospital where she passionately served patients in crisis in the Emergency Department and Behavioral Health Unit. Prior to that, she has over a decade of experience working with individuals and families with an array of mental health challenges, as well as sexual abuse survivors.

Amanda earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida and her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is licensed to practice in the state of Florida.

Amanda specializes in Trauma and utilizes evidenced based practices including Eye Movement Desensitization Movement (EMDR) and is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to facilitate her clients to work towards healing and closure. Other areas of interest and expertise include anxiety & depression, family dynamics & boundaries, including biological, blended & adopted, ADHD, self-harm, Baker Act & Marchman Act processes.

Liz Overpeck
Liz Overpeck
Licensed Mental Health Counselor | Counseling Center

Liz Overpeck is a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida. She obtained her masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary and she earned her bachelor of science degree in psychology from Florida State University. Liz has five years of therapy experience in a variety of treatment contexts including the educational system (K-12 and university), private practice, community-based mental health, and outpatient substance abuse treatment.

Liz is specialized in the treatment of anxiety with a particular interest in the treatment of social anxiety disorder. She is pursuing an advanced certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Cleveland Center for Cognitive Therapy. Liz is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). In addition to CBT, Liz often utilizes Solutions Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Liz offers her clients a healthy balance of acceptance and empathy paired with therapeutic challenges toward growth. She finds it deeply meaningful to support clients toward well-being, relational healing, and empowerment.

Elizabeth Newsom is currently pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Jacksonville University. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in Psychology from Flagler College. In addition, Elizabeth is currently pursuing a Play Therapy Certification from Jacksonville University.

Elizabeth has experience working with domestic violence and sexual abuse survivors in a crisis center as well as working with clients with disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. Other areas of expertise and interest include anxiety, depression, sexuality, trauma, and substance use. Elizabeth focuses on implementing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy to create a healing environment and assist clients in achieving their goals.

Alex Kristjansson is a Registered Mental Health Intern at Flagler College. He earned his bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is working towards his master’s in clinical mental health counseling at Jacksonville University. He has two years of experience working with the substance use population in St Augustine. In his free time, Alex enjoys reading, chess, and road trips with his wife.

Administrative Assistant to the Sr. Director of Health & Wellness and Counseling Services

Jenna Stickley has been part of the Flagler family since October of 2021. Jenna’s initial role as the Visitor Services Coordinator in Admissions with our prospective students, was a wonderful experience, preparing her for a transition into her role as the Administrative Assistant in our Counseling Center.

Jenna is originally from Richmond, VA, but moved to St Augustine in 2020 with her husband and daughter, Kira, who attends Flagler College and will graduate in December 2023. Prior to Flagler, Jenna worked in a private girls’ middle school in Richmond as their Front Office Coordinator. She has always worked in forward-facing jobs. She is a lover of people, offering care and kindness along the way. Jenna loves working and building relationships with students and looks forward to helping in any way she can.

Besides people, Jenna loves the sun and the water. Traveling is a favorite past-time. Over the last 30 years, she and her family have returned to Aruba where they have a timeshare to meet old friends, relax, and rejuvenate. Downtime at home is treasured where she lives with her husband and their three cats, enjoying sunsets over the St. Johns River.
