Jikeli acts as director of the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism at Indiana University and received his doctorate from the Center for Research on Antisemitism at Technical University Berlin in 2011.
Alongside his work with the institute and as an associate professor of Jewish and Germanic studies at Indiana University, Jikeli recently authored a book “The Return of Religious Antisemitism?” (2021).
As a professor, his research explores modern antisemitism on and offline. In conjunction with this research, Jikeli operates a research lab called “Social Media & Hate,” which uses data from Twitter and other social media platforms to analyze trends of virtual hate speech.
In recognition of his work, Jikeli was awarded the Raoul Wallenberg Prize in Human Rights and Holocaust Studies in 2013 and named one of the “top 100 people positively influencing Jewish life” in 2019 by The Algemeiner, a Jewish newspaper based in New York City.
