A small, select group of academically talented students were recently inducted to the Flagler College Honors Program through faculty recommendation.

Flagler’s Honors Program is designed to challenge its members, supporting “exceptionally creative, talented, and intellectually engaged students,” by offering specialized courses and extracurricular activities,

Inviting around 5% of incoming first-year classes annually, most of its members earn their spot in the Honors Program by qualifying through Flagler’s regular admissions process. However, a small percentage of students are invited through prestigious faculty nominations.

Second semester first-year students and second-year students can qualify for induction based on certain criteria.

Specifically, faculty are asked to submit student nominees with a minimum 3.3 GPA who demonstrate an appreciation of academic values at Flagler, intellectual engagement, leadership potential, verbal ability, quantitative and writing skills, creativity, talent, and work ethic.

The eight students invited through faculty nomination this spring will be recognized at the program’s pinning ceremony in the Fall 2024 semester. These students include:

  • Cristianna Marrero | Anthropology
  • Niamh Kirkwood | Coastal Environmental Science
  • J.D. Sweeney | Fine Art
  • Mark Romero | International Studies
  • Kaleb Searcy | Sport Management
  • Rebecca Tier | Psychology
  • Evelyn Lopez | English
  • Lizzy Bianculli | Criminology
