Welcome to St. Augustine
A walk through St. Augustine is a walk through a tropical paradise in a place where time stands still. The oldest continuously occupied European settlement in continental United States, St. Augustine was founded by Spanish explorer Don Pedro Menéndez de Avilés in September 1565 and, today, remains a shining jewel in Florida’s tourism economy.
St. Augustine’s history and culture can be found in almost every museum, eatery, and store. As a student of Flagler College, you have the opportunity to fully explore and experience the beauty of St. Augustine every day.
What To Do In St. Augustine
St. Augustine offers a mix of art, music, fine dining, casual eateries, sporting events, and shops that make it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Southeast. At Flagler College, you’ll be in the heart of this bustling town center—a place where your life fits your style.
Take a drive across the Bridge of Lions to Anastasia Island, where you’ll find skate parks, local attractions, state parks with camping facilities, and multiple casual and fine dining establishments.
If you need necessities or groceries, the campus is located within driving distance of the St. Augustine Outlet Malls, Publix, Winn-Dixie, Target, WalMart, Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, and more.
And did we mention the beach? With more than 40 miles of pristine natural beaches that will take your breath away, St. Augustine offers an oceanfront refuge like none other. Take your studying from the dorm to St. Augustine Beach or Vilano Beach, both of which are about 5 miles from campus.
You can also venture out of town for the weekend! The St. Johns Town Center, Avenues Mall, and Ikea are in Jacksonville, Fla about 45 minutes away from St. Augustine. If you’re looking for even more adventure, Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Springs, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld are about 2 hours away from campus.
