Meet Our Staff
Brian Thompson is a Flagler College graduate who found his way back to his alma mater more than 15 years ago after a long career as a journalist and editor in Northeast Florida. A communications and English major, he also has a master’s degree from the University of Missouri’s Journalism School in Media Management. He has a love for writing, running and working with students, which he often does as an adjunct in Flagler’s Communication and English Departments. He continues to write a weekly award-winning humor column in The St. Augustine Record.
As the Director of News and Information at Flagler, he handles public relations and media efforts, oversees internal college communications, and produces the Flagler College magazine. In addition, Brian advises the online student newspaper, The Gargoyle.
Tonya is a Florida native who studied Leisure and Sport Management at Elon University, North Carolina, and Museum Studies at the University of Manchester in England, U.K. She enjoys Disney vacations and weekend trips to authentic Florida destinations with her husband. Tonya also teaches the First Year Experience course to help make her small contribution to the enhancement of the student experience at Flagler. She incorporates museology into her classes.
Tonya is the Assistant Director for News and Information. She works with public relations and media, as well as internal and crisis communications. She illuminates the stories of Flagler students, faculty, and staff by writing web and magazine articles.
