Institutional Technology

Gwen Pechan serves as the Vice President of Institutional Technology at Flagler College, ranked #4 in Regional Colleges of the South, where she leads technology strategy and operations, and the business continuity and technology security programs for the institution. She has over two decades of technology leadership experience. Prior to coming to Flagler, Gwen was the Director of Information Technology, where she established the architecture and governance processes and a Business Intelligence program from inception. The Institutional Technology Team is responsible for the cloud and on-campus server, network and wireless infrastructure, helpdesk and desktop support, and support the enterprise resource planning and student information systems platform upon which the institution relies to deliver services to a wide range of constituents.

Matt Angelo has been with Flagler College since 2007. He has over 20 years of Helpdesk experience in corporate, city government, and educational environments. He was hired as a Desktop Support Technician to provide support for Faculty, Staff, and technology equipment in the classrooms. Matt has an Associates of Science degree from ITT Technical Institute.

Roberto Colangelo joined Flagler College’s Institutional Technology team in 2019. Prior to Flagler College, Roberto worked for a local long-standing company as their only on-site technician. As the Help Desk Technician, Roberto is the first line of defense for staff, faculty and students, troubleshooting various technology issues pertaining to software, wi-fi connectivity, account access and mac computers.

Douglas Hart joined Flagler College in 2016, coming from a background in printing and graphic arts.  He is currently working as a Senior Help Desk Technician providing a broad range of advanced technical computing services across all levels on campus.  His primary duties revolve around servicing the Mac labs on campus focusing on MacOS, printing, and Adobe installations.

John Hein serves as one of two Business Systems Analysts. He primarily oversees the technical aspects behind the College’s student information system and integrations with external systems. He brings 15 years of IT experience to the team. Prior to Flagler College, he served as a Database/Network Administrator responsible for database and network systems maintenance.

William Jackson is the Director of Infrastructure Services at Flagler College. He started at Flagler College in 2005 as the Macintosh Administrator. In 2010, his responsibilities shifted to social media and web design as Director of Web and New Media Services. In 2014, he took over the Infrastructure Services Department, where he oversees workstation support, academic and event audio/visual, network services, wireless services, printing, and cloud operations.  William obtained his Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Flagler College in 2021.

Shannon Swanson joined the Institutional Technology department at Flagler College in 2021.  She has spent the last 8 years of her career in higher education, including 6 years as the IT lead for Institutional Advancement at Christopher Newport University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  Shannon holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Computer Science from the University of Mary Washington. 

At Flagler, Shannon oversees the Administrative Services team, whose responsibilities include maintaining database integrations, providing application support, and assisting the user community with their data-related needs.  Her focus is to always provide excellent customer service in order to enhance the student experience here at Flagler College.

Joelle Sutton is the Help Desk Administrator for the Institutional Technology Department. Prior to starting at Flagler in 2013, her background included positions in accounting, finance, and contract management for both the private sector and state government.  In her current role at Flagler, she oversees the Help Desk, handles network account management for the campus, procures computer equipment and peripherals, and provides administrative support to the department. Joelle is a Flagler College alumnus, with a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration.

Michael Todrick joined Flagler College’s Institutional Technology Department in 2014. He previously worked at First Tee, acting as their Network Administrator. Michael is a Flagler College alumnus from the class of 2008. As the Systems Administrator, Michael ensures the stable operation of the wired and wireless networks and servers and the planning, installation, and maintenance of all network hardware and software.

Sarah Jackson is a Business Analyst within Flagler College’s Institutional Technology Department, where she helps to maintain the major systems and databases used by Flagler faculty and staff. She started working at Flagler IT when she was 16, assisting Desktop Support with password resets, hardware and software troubleshooting, and equipment distribution. Sarah is a Flagler College alumnus, with bachelor’s degrees in English and Criminology.
