Description of Research
Tracy Upchurch is an associate professor of law and history as well as chair of the pre-law program at Flagler College. After a twenty-five year career as a practicing attorney, Upchurch joined the faculty at Flagler and subsequently earned his MA in American History at the University of North Florida. His research interest is broadly based in the period 1763-1865 and more narrowly focused on Southern Unionists in Florida. He is a director of the St. Augustine Historical Society and of UF Historic St. Augustine, Inc. The latter organization assists the University of Florida in the “long-term preservation and interpretation of state-owned historic properties in St. Augustine” as well as facilitating related educational programs “in historic preservation, archaeology, cultural resource management, cultural tourism, and museum administration” in St. Augustine.
