Cynthia Williams currently serves as the Senior Director for Innovation and Equity for the St. Johns County School District. She has served as Principal at St. Johns Technical High School and The St. Johns Virtual School in St. Augustine. She is a St. Johns County native by way of Hastings, Fl.
Ms. Williams earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism/Public Relations, Master’s degree in Guidance, and Educational Leadership Certification from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
She has served over 31 years in education-related posts throughout Florida and has been with the St. Johns County School District since 1995 when she started as a guidance counselor at Hastings Elementary School. In 1998 she was named The St. Johns County School District Teacher of the Year. In 2016, Ms. Williams was named the 2016-17 St. Johns County Principal of the Year (the only administrator in the county to hold both titles).
Williams has served in district teacher recruitment since 2004 where she focused on recruiting minority teachers. She currently serves as Vice President of the Dr. Martin Luther King Annual Commemorative Breakfast, Bethune Cookman University (Miller Site) Advisory Board and former Executive Board President of the Historic St. Johns County Police Athletic League. Williams is a 2005 recipient of the Learning Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award for her significant contributions to the community and the St. Johns County School District.
