Elementary & Exceptional Student Education
Dual Certification Program of Elementary and Exceptional Student Education
Our dual certification program prepares you to teach, support, and inspire the world's children. Once you complete your coursework and pass your FTCE exams, you'll be eligible to obtain a Florida Exceptional Student Education certification for teaching in grades K-12 and Elementary Education (K-6) with endorsements in ESOL & Reading.
What You'll Study
The content of Exceptional Student Education courses at Flagler College Tallahassee follows the standards and ethics established and practiced by the Council for Exceptional Children. You'll study professional education, elementary content and methodology, and exceptional student education.
Hybrid Day or Evening Programs
Students may choose from our day or evening programs. Day students will complete the curriculum within five semesters, and evening students will complete the curriculum within six semesters. Courses in Fall 2023 will be a mix of hybrid and online courses.
Practical Experience
Our hands-on approach begins in your first semester. You'll take part in practicum courses with area schools in the public school system, all culminating with a full-time internship your last semester.
