Director of the International Center, Lisa Fiala earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Miami University of Ohio and a master’s degree in international sustainable development from the School for International Training in Vermont. Director Fiala came to Flagler with more than 17 years international working experience in both the fields of education and international development. She held the position of Director of International Programs and Outreach at the Northwest School in Seattle, and was previously the Regional Director for Southeast Europe with American Councils for International Education where she managed 7 countries offices and worked closely with local US Embassies on educational programming. She has consulted for and completed assignments with a number of additional NGOs and IO's including The Global Fund for Children, UNCTAD and UNICEF and has worked in 30 countries around the world on programs focused on youth and education. Fiala served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bulgaria ('01-'03) and Ghana ('03-'04) and has lived in Switzerland, Tajikistan and Serbia as well.
Lisa Fiala was a 2019 Fulbright IEA Fellow to France.
The Director of the International Center is responsible for the College’s international programming including, study abroad, international student services and international partnerships.
