    Flagler College student Chloe Petito, a triple major who balances working 35 hours a week with taking six classes, was recently awarded, for the second time, the retired faculty’s annual scholarship of $1,000 on April 17.

    Spring portfolio exhibit highlights work of Flagler’s graduating students

    The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum and Flagler College will be presenting its spring exhibition of work by students graduating from the Department of Art and Design from April 27 to April 29. The exhibition will open with a reception on Thursday, April 27 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will be on view on Friday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday, April 29 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

    Three Flagler students have earned coveted internships at major research institutions this summer, thanks to National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. Coastal Environmental Science majors Cody Burns, Madeline Musante and Alexis Morris will be heading to Oregon and Virginia for their highly-competitive research experiences.

    Flagler students take a stand against sexual assault and ‘take back the night’

    Nearly 150 Flagler College students clutching candles and posters while chanting “People Unite Take Back the Night” marched against sexual assault Thursday night, as part of the school’s third annual “Take Back the Night” event. Held on campuses throughout the world, the event raises awareness of and calls for an end to sexual violence of all forms.

    Flagler’s Society for Advancement of Management claims top spot in competition

    Flagler College’s Society for Advancement of Management (SAM) team recently took home first place at the organization’s 2017 Case Competition in Orlando, held from March 30 to April 2 at the annual SAM conference. Janell Collins, Mary-Jo Lendering, Matheus Menezes and Nick Pappas joined more than 100 students from 25 colleges nationwide to compete in the competition, in which students were tasked with analyzing a marketplace problem facing the social media company Facebook. Through their analysis, they examined possible solutions and proposed the most effective one to ensure the company’s sustained, future success.

    Flagler College’s Theatre Arts Department has taken the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Awards by storm, earning seven national awards, including Outstanding Production of a Play for its November performance of Jean Genet’s “The Maids.”

    Fifteen Flagler College students recently returned from the nationally-recognized Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in Statesboro, Ga., where they competed regionally in categories ranging from design and technical theatre to performance, stage management and dramaturgy.

    Flagler College community members volunteer across county for day of service

    For a February day, Flagler College faculty, staff and students couldn’t ask for better weather to volunteer with local community organizations for the college’s biannual day of service on Saturday. Approximately 150 individuals assisted a dozen organizations across the county.
  • Student club raises money for local cancer patients

    Flagler College’s Public Relations Student Society of America recently donated $2,300 to the Cancer Patient Emergency Fund, which offers financial assistance to cancer patients undergoing treatment at Flagler Hospital. As part of a fundraiser, participants paid to complete various exercise circuits at CrossFit venue DRiV Fitness in St. Augustine. Flagler students also sold T-shirts and hosted a raffle.

    Flagler College students recently took home 2017 American Advertising Federation-Jacksonville (AAF) “ADDY” awards on Feb. 4, including a “Student Best in Show” award by senior Courtney Babchyck for her animation titled “A Boy Called Jex.” The ceremony for the highly-recognized awards, which honor advertising creative excellence, was held on Saturday, Feb. 4.
