Ceremonial dedication held for Abare Hall at Flagler College
Oct 30Flagler College dedicated its newest residence hall in honor of former President William T. Abare, Jr. on Oct. 25 with a ribbon cutting. The building, named Abare Hall, is part of a $23 million complex on Malaga Street adjacent to the FEC Residence Halls on the banks of St. Augustine’s San Sebastian River. It houses 159 students in 75 suites. -
Flagler College second in U.S. News’ Best Regional Colleges in South, ranks sixth on Best Value list

This year, the college was also ranked sixth on the Best Value list in the South regional category for offering high-quality programs at an affordable cost. -

Last week, Cosmopolitan Magazine released its list of “30 of the Most Beautiful College Campuses in the World,” and top on the list was Flagler College. -
Flagler College’s President Dr. Joseph Joyner welcomes new students during convocation ceremony
Aug 22Flagler College officially welcomed nearly 800 new students to the Flagler family Tuesday evening, during the college’s annual convocation ceremony in Lewis Auditorium. The students clutched railroad spikes, symbolic of their Flagler journey, as they listened to new President Dr. Joseph Joyner share his vision of great leadership and the core values that define the college. -

Abare Hall opens this weekend
Aug 17Abare Hall, part of Flagler College's largest-ever construction project, will open its doors to upperclassmen this weekend after 15 months of work. The new residence hall, named after retired President Dr. William T. Abare Jr., sits on the west side of the college’s existing FEC Residence Halls on the banks of St. Augustine’s San Sebastian River. It houses 159 students in 75 suites. -
Flagler College featured in Princeton Review’s ‘The Best 382 Colleges’

Office changes coming to Flagler campus soon
Jul 27In an effort to better serve the Flagler College community, several additions and changes will be coming to the St. Augustine campus this fall. The most prominent of these will be the opening of Anderson Cottage as the new Alumni House, located just south of the Proctor Library. The renovated building will serve as a central meeting hub for local and visiting alumni, and will also house the Career Development Center. The aim, Dr. Alan Woolfolk said, is to enhance the overall student experience. -

Dr. Joseph G. Joyner begins role as president of Flagler College
Jul 6This week officially marked the start of Dr. Joseph G. Joyner’s tenure as the fourth president of Flagler College. He succeeds Dr. William T. Abare, Jr., who served in the role for 16 years before retiring this June. -
Flagler upgrades library's automated system
Jun 26Flagler College’s library services is now more mobile-friendly, thanks to a new automated system. The Proctor Library upgraded last week from a system known as Voyager to another called Sierra. -
Flagler College tours receives travel site award
Jun 21Historic Tours of Flagler College was recently awarded a 2017 Certificate of Excellence from the popular travel website Trip Advisor. The business, created by the college’s student organization Enactus in 1998, offers tours of the former Hotel Ponce de Leon, a former luxury hotel famous for its Tiffany Windows, ornate murals and Spanish-Renaissance architecture. The national historic landmark is now home to Flagler College. Approximately 40,000 guests enjoy the tour each year. -

Safety app LiveSafe to serve as college's emergency communication tool
May 26As Hurricane season starts June 1, now is the time to download Flagler’s LiveSafe app, which is used by the college to communicate during emergencies. The app is replacing E2Campus as Flagler’s primary communication tool for emergencies. -
Flagler honors Dr. Abare for ‘46 years of Making an Impact’
May 24More than 450 people paid tribute to retiring Flagler College President Dr. William T. Abare Jr. on Wednesday night, with a sendoff that included the announcement that a new student residential complex will be named Abare Hall and the presentation of a presidential medal. -
