Theatre goes virtual with “The Wolves”

Oct 15, 2020

The Flagler College Department of Visual and Performing Arts presents “The Wolves” on Oct. 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. The fall production is being live-streamed. “Admission” is $10 on the college’s ticketing site at tickets.flagler.edu.

“The Wolves” is a contemporary slice of life play about a girls’ soccer team. The team warms up before each game giving you a glimpse into women’s sports. The audience will witness the team converse about war, genocide, abortion, menstrual products and other the scouting of other players.

The audience should go away with the message that individuality is a strength that should be celebrated within our communities. A single wolf can be self-serving, but it can only function properly with its entire pack working together. The pack must have one another’s back and be present for each other during difficult times.

Flagler College Assistant Professor of Communications and Director of FCTV Nicholas Serenati will film the entire production using a single camera and capturing sound using a parabolic microphone.

The cast has had its challenges in rehearsing during a pandemic where social distancing and wearing masks has been enforced: “Physical connections between actors must be fused, so playing in distance, the actors must not only listen with their ears, but with their entire bodies. The cast have developed a keen physical awareness in their acting,” said Christine Fogarty, adjunct professor in Theatre Arts.

Performances are Oct. 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. The performances will take place via virtual viewing, as the campus is still closed to public events during the fall semester.

General Admission is $10 and free for Flagler College students, faculty and staff. Tickets can be ordered at tickets.flagler.edu. Upon completing the order, patrons will receive an e-mail containing the link to the live streaming event a few days prior to performance. The box office is currently closed. Please contact lpage@flagler.edu with questions.
