Theatre Arts Department to Showcase Spring Conservatory Plays
Apr 4, 2017
Flagler College’s spring Senior Conservatory Plays, titled “For Your Eyes Only,” will feature two nights of productions revolving around the theme of secrets. They will be held in Lewis Auditorium, on April 19 and 20 at 7 p.m.
Nine students will bring a mix of comedy and drama to this semester’s senior conservatory. Student Miranda Shiver’s production is a soft, thoughtful piece about a reclusive writer and his new next-door neighbor. Keira McDonald’s production is a comedy about a young woman seeking vengeance for the destruction of her unique spiritual guardian. Other featured productions will include a comedy about a clown and his wife’s visits to therapy, contrasted with Rebecca Wood’s murder mystery about a young woman who finds herself locked in an apartment by someone who knows she's having an affair.
Senior Conservatory is a three-credit semester long course in which senior Theatre Arts majors master all aspects of producing a show. This includes selecting a piece, obtaining rights, casting and directing, set construction, light and sound design, costuming and publicity. This course acts as the senior capstone course for the Theatre Arts department at Flagler College.
The Senior Conservatory Plays will be performed at the Lewis Auditorium, 14 Granada St. Tickets are $5 general admission, and only one ticket is needed for both nights. They are available online and will only be available at the box office one hour prior to curtain on April 19 and 20. The box office phone number is 904-826-8600.
Flagler faculty, staff and students may obtain one free ticket directly at the box office. The event qualifies as co-curricular activity for students.
