Student Emergency Fund garners new fundraising interest according to Giving Tuesday results

Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. A generous donor challenged Flagler College to secure donations from 175 people in one day. Achieving this goal allowed Office of Institutional Advancement staff to unlock a special $5,000 grant for the Flagler Fund.
The Flagler Family worked together on a major day of charitable giving to beat the goal of 175 donors, which ultimately unlocked the $5,000 challenge grant for the Flagler Fund. By the end of Giving Tuesday, Flagler had a record-setting number of donors at 237, which raised approximately $29,500 for scholarships, athletic boosters, student life programs and the Flagler Fund, which supports all areas of student life on campus. Furthermore, in the spirit of Giving Tuesday, other major gifts were pledged in support of Flagler initiatives.
The majority of donors designated their gifts to the Flagler Fund, Saints Club and the new Faculty & Staff Emergency Fund for Students. Focusing efforts on faculty and staff giving was a new initiative this year, and it proved to be successful. Champions from each office and department rallied their peers to make a participation gift in support of programs and scholarships near and dear to them. Overall, employee giving increased substantially and raised over $1,400 for the new student emergency fund. A total of 129 employees participated in Giving Tuesday.
