Saints Weekend a fun-filled success
Oct 10, 2019
This year, Saints with their friends and families, reunited for the inaugural Saints Weekend (formerly Family Weekend) from Sept. 27-29. A wide variety of events took place both on Flagler’s campus and out in the St. Augustine community in order to take in everything St. Augustine has to offer. Over 150 families, as well as Flagler College faculty and staff, participated in the fun-filled weekend.
The weekend kicked-off at 2 p.m. Friday with a Career Development Center Open House and closed the evening with the first ever Dr. and Mrs. Joyner’s Reception for families, an informal social gathering at Markland House to talk and get to know all our Saints. On Saturday, Saints spirit was in full form as supporters went from game to game, starting with the Women’s Soccer match at noon to the Men’s Soccer match at 6 p.m. Between games, a tailgate kept everyone’s spirits up with a grill out, snow cones, spirit swag give-aways, body painting provided by the student organization Campus Activities Board and a rock climbing wall. If sports didn’t interest you, other activities on offer included sunrise yoga, a coffee tasting tour with the Flagler Hospitality Professor Dr. Zac Cole and even an eco-boat tour to explore local waters with Associate Professor and ecologist Dr. Ed McGinley. The weekend ended Sunday on a high note with healthy activities, a behind-the-scenes tour with Flagler’s Legacy and a volunteer service project with other Saints.
