Orientation goes virtual with Roar Up!
Jul 8, 2020
This year to help make our future Saints feel welcomed and prepared for the fall semester ahead, the Division of Student Affairs is planning an on-demand virtual orientation experience called Roar Up! The new event will feature even more campus office participation, as being a fully-online event actually helps include more Flagler offices and departments. Currently, Roar Up! is planned for July 13-17.
Dean of Student Engagement and Career Development Tara Stevenson said “This is a wonderful opportunity for campus offices to begin connecting incoming students to the Flagler Family over the summer, educating them to the various components and areas of student life, and engaging them as a member of our campus community.
The Roar Up! on-demand virtual summer orientation prepares students for the transition from high school to becoming a successful college student. With short videos, online resources and checklists which cover topics ranging from campus support services to navigating Flagler policies and procedures, virtual social events with student leaders will round out the virtual programming offerings.
“We are thrilled for this new project and the opportunity to create a memorable experience our students will treasure throughout their years with us as a Flagler student,” said Stevenson.
Before classes begin in August, the Division of Student Affairs will also host Welcome Week to kick off the 40 First Days programming series. This programming series is designed for students to bond with the Flagler Family culture starting day one on campus. Welcome Week will be filled with social and educational sessions to help new and returning students learn/re-learn their way around campus and map out plans to start the semester on the right foot.
