National debt and broken political system topic of discussion at next Forum at Flagler
Jan 22, 2019
On Feb. 5 at the Lewis Auditorium on Flagler College’s campus, Paul Stebbins, a founding member of FixUS, an initiative of the Campaign to Fix the Debt, will present to the public as part of the Forum on Government and Public Policy series. The title of his lecture is “Trillion Dollar Deficits: How the National Debt Symbolizes Our Broken Political System.” The event is free.
“Trillion dollar deficits are set to return within the next year and our already record high national debt will skyrocket over the coming decade,” said Stebbins.
He intends to discuss the country’s perilous fiscal and political situations. He will explain how our political environment surrounding our debt and federal budget have come to symbolize the brokenness of the U.S. political system.
For more than 30 years, the Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy has invited nationally-recognized journalists and commentators to St. Augustine to discuss issues of importance in regional, state and federal government. All Forums take place in Lewis Auditorium, 14 Granada St., at 7 p.m.
Forums are free and open to the public, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
