Beginning fall 2020, Flagler College will add an indoor percussion ensemble and a new section of applied instrument combos to its music program.

Since the addition of a pep band in the fall of 2018, Flagler’s music program has continued to increase in popularity. The indoor percussion ensemble will be an addition to the current pep band and will provide additional entertainment at athletic and college events. The ensemble will be overseen by Clint Weinberg, applied voice and pep band director.

The new section of applied instrument combos will provide small-ensemble opportunities for instrumental students and will be led by JoAnne Maffia, adjunct professor of music appreciation.

The goal of this music program expansion is to cultivate more interest among the diverse student population at Flagler. The additional ensembles will appeal to students not currently involved in the growing music program, as well as provide additional opportunities to current students.

“The music program at Flagler College has course offerings for every student,” said Weinberg. “Our program is welcoming and inclusive for students of various musical backgrounds, including beginners, and provides opportunities for camaraderie and creative expression.”
