MLK event will be fully virtual
Jan 11, 2021
On Jan. 18 the Flagler College Office of Diversity and Inclusion is excited to partner with the Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration Committee of St. Johns County, Inc. to host the 36th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Breakfast event.
On Jan. 11, Dr. Sandra Miles, vice president of student affairs & chief diversity and inclusion officer, made the following announcement:
Due to the current local and national increase in COVID related cases and the subsequent change to the campus operating level, this year’s annual event will be FULLY virtual, with NO in-person seating available. Only those persons who are scheduled to be on the program and/or who receive personal invitations will be allowed to enter the auditorium. The virtual portion of the event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and can be viewed online via the Flagler College D & I website https://www.flagler.edu/student-support-services/diversity-and-inclusion/.
Following the event, in lieu of the traditional march, all community members will have the option of taking a self-guided walk to the plaza to pray for “Peace and Justice in the world.”
We understand that many in our community planned to attend in person and we are disappointed to not be able to gather together, but we must prioritize public health above all else. We truly hope we will be able to come together in a more traditional sense in the coming years.Tagged As
